Quite a sizable die chip! As discussed on the prior thread, it might even be large enough to be considered an interior dime break, although dimes are pretty small. Still a neat buy, congrats. =)

Thank you both, MNP, and Brandmeister! You're right, Brandmeister. It could be large enough to be considered an Interior Die Break.

I picked up a few of these as well. There was some discussion ( https://goccf.com/t/491391&whichpage=1 ) about the design causing the chips. I have only seen this massive chip on the Philadelphia dimes, but my view is limited to what is on ebay and the two rolls I purchased. This begs the question as to if it was only one die that degraded and didn't get caught. I do have a few Denver dimes with the bulge but haven't seen the massive one like what is on the Philadelphia ones. I'm labelling mine "Decapitated Liberty" - fits better on the 2x2

Thank you both, nickelsearcher, and PlumCrazy814! Great link, thank you. It makes me wonder if there's more than one die pair out there with this massive Die Chip.

Here's a few more for comparison. The first two look like the same die chip (and very similar to Errers and Varietys's in my opinion) but the third (smaller one) looks like it progressed differently to me. Note that the chip transits above the neckline in the smaller one.

Very cool, PlumCrazy814! The last one looks like a different progression from a different die. Thank you for posting the comparisons.

Looks to me to be at least three different dies in this post. Well, maybe two now that I look again

The excursion into the two on the last set of six had me thrown until I looked at the others (excepting the one that has the chip starting at the top of the neck).
