yeah personally I see a lot of people bring in change that they shouldn't be cashing out, but what do I know?

This is a really nice find! If it were me, I would have asked for all of the quarters they had. They can always get out another roll. I would bet there were more of those in the drawer.

Nice! I've only found one silver quarter, a 1957, and it was in a roll. I also have a silver Canadian quarter from 1952, but American coins mean more to me. Hopefully I'll find some some silvers soon!

A year or so ago I was standing behind a woman at a soda machine. She was getting frustrated because the machine would not take the quarter she was putting in. After a few tries, she turned to me to ask if I had a quarter we could trade so she could get her soda. Glad to help, I did. We traded. Curiously I looked at the coin to see why the machine was rejecting it- it was silver but I don't remember the year. The weight was wrong to the machine. I told the woman what was wrong and offered her a second quarter but she just shrugged and said a quarter was a quarter.
My good luck, but I shuddered at the thought that someone had no regard for the things we hold dear.

My brother-in-law used to have a nice little silver coin collection until his kids found it and spent it all playing arcade games. Those were expensive games...

really really good luck. When I first knew that some pre 1964 US coins are silver, I checked all the coins I had, and found a 1963 dime in my girlfriend's purse. After that, have never seen a single silver coin from circulation and roll searching again.

It was great! And they're in relatively good condition... I was ecstatic when I looked down and saw them all shining on me!

She didn't wonder why those old coins were so shiny?
