I'll give ya a bidding war. $62 for it. lol.
Just kidding of course since you can't sell under 250 posts. But seriously, it would be worth opening it yourself. how fun would that be.

Quote: Exactly. I'm a coin collector, not a bag collector! So is the way I think. Open that thing. Of course if you think about it, just keep on saving that bag, acqure 250 posts, and let the bidding continue. Already in the $60 dollar range and that is with out real bidding. Eventually you'll have enough posts to auction it off. The whoever gets it for about $70 could send you a PM sayinag how they found hundreds of 72 double dies and all in MS grades.

Is this a sealed $50 face value bag from 1972? Is it sown shut with thread? If so it sounds like it could be a mint sealed bag of cents all BU and dated 1972 P. That means there is 100 BU rolls in the bag. The greysheet bid price per roll is $2.25. So that makes the bag worth $225 just at the BU roll bid price. Typically sealed mint bags sell for over this price. I could see this bag bringing much more than this in an auction. First, I would suggest determining if this is a sealed mint bag. You could start by posting pictures here. Next I would look at it as would you prefer to search the cents or have the money for the sealed bag? I think most of us on this forum would prefer to search them but think about the possible value of the sealed bag before you open it.
Of course if this is not a mint sealed bag then the value is much less.

In regards to what type of bag it is, from how mom describes it , it sounds like a loose bank sealed bag. She says it is sewn shut with a lead seal. Bag is dated 1972. What I am debating is having her ship it US Mail and risk them getting damaged in shipping or picking it up when I visit them next month. I am in KY she is in FL

Okayyyyyy..I don't want to be breaking any forum rules here. I am new here and don't have selling privaledges yet. Last thing I want is to get kicked off here. My previous comment on the offer was in jest. I don't intend on selling it at the moment. I do think I am going to go get it when I visit my parents in FL and bust it open and spend the lost "equity" of it on a nice day or two spend with my mom going through it. You can't buy moments like that

I agree that it is important to determine if it's a sealed mint bag or not. Obviously as you are finding out, there are lots of droolers out there at your fortunate situation (including me). If it's not a sealed mint bag, I would go through them with your Mom. Let us know what you find!
