1920 Penny Question - Coin Community Forum

ghostrider Pillar of the Community United States 1116 Posts	Posted 06/04/2012 10:40 pm Okay I admit that I'm confused about this year and most likely wasn't really paying attention when the topic could have come up about the 1920 no d coins. So I'll post my confusion. I found a 1920 penny with no d, is there anything special about this coin or am I really confused? Report this Post to the Staff

just carl Bedrock of the Community United States 20753 Posts	Posted 06/05/2012 6:58 pm HOWEVER, if you did have a 1920D cent without the D, it would really be worth a lot of money. The problem with this is those lousy people in Philidelphia's Mint also made them with out the D on them. And the conspiracy continued when people in SanFranciso also started making 1920 Pennies without the D. Of course they just put an S under the date to really confuse people. This all came to a head in 1922 when all the Mints made their Pennies with no letter under the date. This was a sneaky way to collect money for making coins when no one could say who made what so they all collected salaries. In 1923 Denver got so made about all this they continued to make all their Pennies without a D under the date. So look carefully at all the Pennies for those years for a possible ? under the date.
