How Would You Grade This 1891 British Crown?

Archraz Pillar of the Community United States 3499 Posts	Posted 10/23/2012 3:56 pm I just got this one recently. It is 28g, sounds of silver, and I do not see any signs of casting. Whether there was once an old cleaning is immaterial as the eye appeal is unaffected and if professionally graded this coin would make it to a regular holder. Now, grade: I don't know what the Europeans would grade it, but where I'm from I'd call it a solid F-15. It could claim a VF grade from many, but even if we said it was a VF, I would not call it that because it appears somewhat heavily marked. Solid coin.
