These Indian Heads are for sale. The 1860 has green gunk surrounding the outside rim of the front and back. I was thinking that a soak in acetone could possibly take off a lot of this gunk. The 1864 looks to me like it could have been possibly cleaned because of the light color, but I am not sure and would like to hear some input from you all. What do you think of these coins? I am looking for undamaged Indian Heads in at least Fine condition for an Indian Head collection. Do you think these coins would be a good fit for a collection like this and how much would you value them at? Thanks!
I'm not sure you'll be able to get all of the green thingy from the 60', so I'd pass on this one. The 64' looks nice, and I can't say I'm seeing definitive cleaning from these pics.
The 60', on ebay, will probably fetch ~10$ while the 64' could bring 15$.
If for a decent price I'd go for both. Then you can always look to improve if possible. Once you have them, try the old Acetone bath. If nothing like that works, again, if cheap enough, may be OK for now.
I ended up not buying them. They went a little higher than I wanted to spend on two Indian Heads that I was unsure of and would rather spend the same or a little bit more for ones that I know are problem free. Thanks for the opinions from everyone!
