Poll Question
If you have two different coins of the same type (for example found in a junk box), one being a common year at a high grade, the other one a rare year and a low grade, which one do you put into your collection and which one on your doubles list?
Generally I tend to keep the high grade coin, but if there is a big difference in value like 1$ for the UNC and 20$ for the F coin, I can't make up my mind to give away the low grade coin. Even if I know that I could get several nice coins missing in my collection for it.

keep the high grade coin 19% 5 Votes
keep the rarer low grade coin 7% 2 Votes
keep both 74% 20 Votes

If we're talking about the scratchtray scenario where all the coins are the same price, I doubt even know from memory which ones were the scarce dates. pick the highest grade one in the tray.

If there were a price difference, get the cheaper one, whichever that was. I'm mainly after an example of the type; future resale value is a very minor consideration for me.

I wouldn't go out of my way to get both. One of each type is sufficient for me. However, if I already had both (for example if I bought one, and was later given the other), keep them both.

convince myself that I would keep the second one as an investment. Only problem there is you have to intend to sell and I just can't let go.

If I have to buy, I'll buy highest grade at cheaper price, if I receive both in a package I'll keep both, but just because I'll like both and not for investment.
