CoinHawkeye....that 1877 is AMAZING! I am so jealous. It reminds me a lot of my 1873 that NGC graded MS63bn, so I am going to guess 63bn, maybe rb.

jleveille,
I agree with vanbroj....TPGs, especially NGC, are extremely liberal with their grading of indians in the 60s and 70s. I would bet it more likely than not to end up in a VF holder...no joke. You should submit it. I'd personally give it an F15.

This one is EXTREMELY scary. PCGS VF-35? What were they smoking? Whatss worse is it sold on Heritage for nearly 2k. wow. From this stamdard jleveille's coin could grade an xf40

Just curious when it comes to rarities like this one...all else being equal and lets say its in the 60+ condition category...does it being a "woody" add or subtract value ?

I think a woody would decrease the value. If you are buying an MS coin for a scarce date, you want a very attractive example. Same for an error for the date. Its a white elephant.

Mine is in an OLD NGC slab at 64BN. It was before "+" or "*" designations......Ive debated hard about sending it back in for a regrade.

You'll note that the diamonds on the ribbon of my coin are weak to missing.
That's a characteristic of most of the strikes in 1877.
