mruseful New Member United Kingdom 29 Posts	Posted 10/31/2014 06:21 am Hi folks. here we go again. This is another coin that I have had for ages but not been able to find out much about. It is a bit worn, seems to be made of copper but may be a Fouree as there is silver plating on it. I don't know much about Fouree's. Most of the plating has worn away but is still visible around the lettering which does not help with it's visibility. See what you all make of it. Cheers. Report this Post to the Staff

Medieval Pillar of the Community 3772 Posts	Posted 10/31/2014 06:31 am If I read it right, the legend on the obverse starts IMPCMAVRE meaning it would be an issue of Marcus Aurelius. I tend more to think Severus Alexander. The coin is severely overcleaned, looks like it was done using electrolysis. Report this Post to the Staff

mruseful New Member United Kingdom 29 Posts	Posted 10/31/2014 07:49 am Thanks for all the info. I tend to agree that it is Sev Alexander. The coin was actually cleaned with lemon juice but it stripped off most of the silver plating. I suspect that it is a Fouree but have no idea when it was made. Probably not recently I just wish I hadn't put it in lemon juice and I think it would be better off with no plating at all mow. If anyone has any idea how old it is I would be grateful as it will probably go onto ebay. Someone may want it. Thanks to everyone for their help. You guys are the best. Report this Post to the Staff
