Ok, so I went overboard with the subject line.
Anyway this one is not listed in the Thurman/Margolis Cud Book. Submitted by Mark Longas of Michigan on Feb 2, 2007 and featured in my Varieties Notebook column in Coin World probably in 2007 (probably March 2007). I doubt there are many of these around.

Now THAT is what I call a Cud. The title is legit. Looks like he is wearing a modern-day Army garrison cap. Should I salute Teddy?

CC, It does look like a cap doesn't it? At one time I had two rolls of a 1955-S Lincoln Cent Cud on reverse that had damaged the obverse over Lincoln's head and I advertised those in Coin World, Numismatic News and COINage Magazine for several years for $25 each calling them "Capped Head Lincolns" describing them in the text as die damage Obv / Cud Rev. That was back when I was advertising the 1979-P Near Date dollars, 1974-D DDO halves, 1984 DDO-002 cents, 1959-D Trip D cents, 1961-D/Hz/D cents, etc., every week in 1/4 to full page ads. It took several years to sell all 99 of the "Capped Heads" but today at $25 each, they'd fly out the door in no time. I kind of wished I kept a few. Was a neat coin.
Story on it is here: http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...magedVar.htm

Pre-Cud and Cud. Pre-Cud does not seem to match the Cud but these were found with these Cuds and share the same markers.
