I want to share with you all what is perhaps my most priced coin. This is the coin that broke with tradition and set the pattern for 400+ years of imperial coinage. Minted shortly before his death, it depicts a beautiful portrait bust of the man himself, and a striking Venus reverse. This is a humble VF and it does have a banker's mark, but it is still special to me. I purchased it from a dealer who is also a member of another ancient coins forum, for quite a decent price.

Super coin. These usually do come with a heavy price tag.

Wow! Congrats on the beautiful coin I'm hoping to get a Julius Caesar denarius one day. Wishful thinking..

For now, I'm going to have to stick with my AE coin. Its off centered and porous but there's a decent bust and you can make out some of the legend! On the plus side...I picked it up for pocket change.

Octavian and Divus Julius Caesar, 38 BC Æ (30 mm , 12,16 g) Southern Italian mint.
Bare head of Octavian right; DIVI F behind, CAESAR before / Wreathed head of Divus Julius Caesar right; DIVOS before, IVLIVS behind.
Crawford 535/1;

Julius-Caesar-Lifetime-Portrait-Denarius

Cheers, Ty.
