Straying from the topic a bit... Why use Photobucket at all? I've always downloaded my photos to my computer and then back them up on a flash drive.\\

I guess someone has to ask why a company asking to be paid for providing a service is considered greedy. They've dedicated staff and hardware, developed software and made it easy for folks to share information so why shouldn't they be paid?

Exactly, over the years it became at some points almost unusable.

Yes, I was just notified yesterday, that my PhotoBucket images will no longer show up on 3rd party websites like this one. (Unless I PAY)
Once upon a time, I used VillagePhotos.com paying an annual subscription fee, and after 5 years or so, they went out of business. - Some websites I joined, required 3rd party hosting, so Pay I did. Aggravating...

Got to say this site has one of the best systems for posting photo's. No need for third party applications.
Photobucket can do one.

There certainly doesn't seem to be a sustainable business model around simply providing storage. Everybody who seems to be doing it successfully has a second or third string to their bow. Everybody who just does storage scrambles...

This is a completely ridiculous decision by Photobucket. No one is going to pay that much money to use their [often glitchy] site, especially since free options are still available from other hosting sites. My images I've linked from photobucket in the past still show up though, but anything I try to link now has the "error" image.

I think banning photo-bucket is a shocking inappropriate reaction. I use Photo-bucket I pay a small fee each month( no where near US$400.00 a year). Photo-bucket isn't charging this forum so you have no morale right to ban it. I actually think such a ban may well put the forums owners at risk of a legal challenge by photo-bucket.If I want to pay the fee and share images here thats my concern not yours ( its my money)! To sum up: How dare you dictate to me what products I will or will not use! Edit: I and I am sure a number of CCF members are covered by the following PB proviision: · Quote: ANY PAYING MEMBER WHOSE PLUS ACCOUNT WAS IN GOOD STANDING AS OF JUNE 1, 2017, SHALL CONTINUE TO RECEIVE ALL THE PHOTOBUCKET SERVICES THAT WERE AVAILABLE TO HIM/HER ON SUCH DATE, INCLUDING IMAGE LINKING AND 3RD PARTY IMAGE HOSTING, UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2018 AS LONG THEY MAINTAIN THEIR CURRENT PLUS ACCOUNT SUBSCRIPTION OR A HIGHER LEVEL PLUS ACCOUNT SUBSCRIPTION DURING SUCH PERIOD OF TIME Despite some people saying the upload quality on this site is good I find it inadequate so I use photobucket. I will end my relationship with photo-bucket in December 2018 if they have not amended their fees. That is how capitalism and market forces should work! In the mean time I and other users should not be punished and forced to find another image sharing site, because of your left wing market view. If we have paid for the service and can use it CCF has no right to block us from using it. I am notifying Photobucket of what you have done and am asking them to take it up with the administrators of CCF. I am shocked at the extreme left wing views demonstrated by this banning of Photobucket

@austrokiwi
So let me get this straight... the 1 in 10 or 1 in 100 who previously paid for the extra storage in PhotoSuckIt are grandfathered in for 18 months.
OK, so every link you post will die at that point.
And you want to be allowed to continue to post them?
No.

Quote: CCF has no right to block us from using it. Watch me. If you or anyone else chooses lo leave over it, so be it. I'm not telling you that you can't use photobucket, be my guest. It just can't be used here. Photobucket can kiss my butt. We've got thousands of useless topics now thanks to their nasty bait and switch. Quote: if they have not amended their fees. And guess what? Even if they do.... they won't be back here. Quote: I actually think such a ban may well put the forums owners at risk of a legal challenge by photo-bucket. I've got one thing to say to that......

This is what I am saying: If I decide to use a paid service it is not up to the administrators of this site to tell me I can't use it, simply because they think the service should be free. Yes the new charges are outrageous but it is my choice and that of other posters as to whether we use that service. It should not be dictated by the administrators. 18 months is a long lead time and very reasonable. I think the outright blocking of Photobucket was an unreasonable kneejerk reaction and reflects badly on the administrators of this forum. The appropriate/professional response would have been to simply warn people of the issue ( suggest alternatives) and let individual posters decide whether to find an alternative to PB or continue. Its a basic principle of free market forces( and democracy)!
