1944 Wheat Penny Cracked Die? - Coin Community Forum

I agree with @John1 that it looks like a lamination. I don't know that it is worth tons of money, but it is definitely a keeper! SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 09/04/2017 1:29 pm Actually, the lamination was there before a blank was even cut out of the strip. It's possible that later steps in the planchet creation/strike process "opened it up" a bit, and weathering might be a factor, but laminations themselves predate anything the Mint does to it.
