So what else can I use to clean a coin? I have a possible DDO Kennedy that has all kinds of funk on it. Report this Post to the Staff
TheCoinDom Valued Member Belgium 186 Posts	Posted 11/02/2017 3:51 pm @Newbie234 Are you sure you used 99% technical grade acetone? It shouldn't cause any damage. If you used something like nail polish remover then, yes, it could've been detrimental to your coin. There is pretty much nothing else you can do that wouldn't make your coin get a details grade. Also, there is a rumor that coins that contain copper will react to acetone in presence of light and water, however I don't know if it's true. If it is, maybe that's what caused the reaction. I did have gloves on and didn't touch the coin at all until I had patted it dry with paper towels. The weird thing is I'm not allergic to anything.....except acetone! Report this Post to the Staff
