It's damaged, but those lines are very interesting! I wonder what caused it too.

Definitely post-mint, possibly a jeweler or artist design start... then may be a computer generated CDC cutout, I have a bunch of these cutout coins, where bust and IGWT is left along with rim... note some lines hit lower bust and design stops, boo-boo coin?

It's probably worth mentioning that I know this coin had been sitting in a closet since the 60's. My grandfather passed away and I only found this in his closet last month when we went to sell the house.
So that might rule out a computer potentially doing this but at the same time the lines are so perfect that I find it hard to imagine pulling it off by hand.
Maybe it IS aliens...

Can only speculate to reason or the cause of the engravings. Maybe an engraver practicing with an engraving tool. I believe a hand tool in the right hands can make this pattern. The wide rim seems to be from circulation wear. Also the edge of the coin took a couple of blunt hits at sometime. Believe all ( PSD) events occurred to the coin after strike. Thanks, Doug. Hmmm , these are strait lines on a round coin , and crop circles are round lines in a field with strait rows.
Obviously a conspiracy!
