I am trying to finish out my Ike Dansco #8176. On the 3rd page they list 1976-S type 1&2. I am struggling to find these for some reason. I checked the PCGS site and they have the "regular" silver strike 1&2, but the Dansco doesn't list silver, so I am really confused.
What am I missing here?
Thanks,
Jon

Regular Clad Proof S Mint ( Not Silver ) Thick lettering on reverse and Thin lettering on reverse.
One Comes from 1975 Proof Set other from 1976 Proof Set.
I should have left this for jbuck, his images would be much nicer. Note the S's in states are very different.

1975 (Thick)

Oh I see, you already know the differences about what I posted above. It looks like the Dansco just didn't print the word "Proof" 1976 for those two holes?
I don't think there were Type I and II in the 40% silver issues. There might be a very rare exception of a thin letter silver but for set purposes, the silver all have thick lettering, so there are no silver TY I and TY II.
Hope I got that right.

Since your coins are from the "S" Mint they have to be proofs.
That's the only way the "S" Mint Ikes came that year.

I guess Dansco thought it was redundant to say "proof".

OK, that makes sense. I should have at least one of them I can grab out of my proof sets, then I can work on finding the other one.
Thanks!

What they said. "The 1976, 1976-D, and 1976-S clad proof coins are found in either Type 1 or Type 2. The 1976-S silver proof and uncirculated coins are only found with the Type 1 reverse." https://eisenhowerdollarguide.com/1...r-varieties/

Congratulations!

Wait, it looks like you have a 1976-S V1 Proof in the 1976 V1 (Philly business strike) hole?

Thanks jbuck! I just looked through your Ike photo collection and you've got some real beauties. I especially like the toning on the '78 Philidelphia, it's just gorgeous.

Wow, I never noticed that. It does look like a proof coin, doesn't it. I'll check it out tonight when I get home.
Dang, back to the search...

I bought that one from our very own Darth Morgan. It was a birthday present to myself.

Funny story...

As I neared the completion of my Ike Dansco back on the early 1990s, I noticed that my 1976-D V1 was missing the mint mark. Yup, somehow I put an extra 1976 V1 in that hole. It was a quick trip to the LCS to fix it.

For what it is worth, that extra '76-V1 is now in the middle (blank) hole at the bottom of the last page. The other blank holes have different duplicates.
