I've been looking for one of these for a while. Never even seen one in circulated condition on the bay. I'm pretty sure one of you guys here have an example but there's not many of these around. This was a cherry-pick but I paid a lot for it. Not near what it's worth but still. A true rarity, what do you think?

I have never seen this one attributed or unattributed anywhere for sale. A tough variety I agree, nice pick!

Something doesn't look right to me. I think I see what could be die scratches that follow each tail feather from the base of the tail to up and on top of the arrow bundle (which is in front of the tail. And the far left claw looks detached from the foot.

I have never heard or a re-engraved tail feather quarter before, I guess I'm up for some research on this one..

I found one and had it attributed by variety vista and had it graded at MS-64 through ANACS.

I then sold it through great collections who crossed it over to PCGS at the same grade. It sold in January of 2018 for over $2,200.

Again thanks for your posts guys. I hate to drag this post back from the dead. Lol. Especially on Halloween. But coop I've been looking at this "VLDS" coin on PCGS and it is not the re-engraved tail feathers. The mint mark isn't in the same position as the real deal. That coin is improperly attributed and that makes the population one less IMO.

So I posted this on the grading forum and they agree to resubmit this coin. It came back graded cleaned. Definitely not the case. In fact I think it was going to take solo top pop with a 65. I'm going to crack it out of its case today and resubmit it without declaring the variety. Here's true view
