@drty, first welcome to CCF. Second, just to be clear, are you talking about the dark black round spots or something else?

Are these spots, or ruptures in the plating?

the red circled bumps are most likely linear plating bubbles. The black spots just looks like 'sharpie' pen marks.

Yes, the plating 'blobs' look like plating blisters.

They might be die chips, but I'm guessing blisters as well.

You can depress them with a toothpick.

Any gray colors around those areas? It maybe split plating and the zinc is starting to rot. But the gray color could be on the altered areas outlines. Sometimes even coin damage can alter the plating.

 . I agree with a plating issue. You can't always press in the bubble, but it is still a plating issue. John1
