@aud, first welcome to CCF. Second, while medals are well outside of my area of expertise, that medal with a central circle, white five-pointed star, and crown dangle looks a lot like the medal given out to Egypt's recipients of the "Order of the Nile". Here is a Wikipedia article for reference: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_NileI'm not sure what the connection would be though.

Thank all you for welcoming me!
Dear @Spence, it looks correct. I am amazed that you found it. I have no idea about how that person would end wearing such a medal but he claimed to have connections with the CIA and other shadowy organizations. On the other hand, the extend of these connections is disputed.
Thanks again!

It seems the medal in this form wasn't granted after 1926, and Mr Theodore hadn't yet been born then. So rather than having earned it himself, it's seems more probable that he bought one second-hand and wore it just because he thought it looked cool. Or it might even be a replica.
From the Wikipedia article, it looks like the medals worn around the neck like that are the second and third tier medals, Grand Officer and Commander - which would be pretty high rank. The ribbon appears to have the correct colour stripes for the award (as far as can be judged in a black-and-white photo), so it doesn't seem to be a random after-market accessory. It's not a common medal ,with only 150 people awarded the third-tier Commander medal, so if genuine it probably wouldn't have been cheap to buy, unless the seller had no idea what it was.

Dear @Spence, excellent work. It tried that path with medal+crown+five-pointed star etc but gave up.
Dear @Sap, I figured that since the formal abolition of the monarchy Egypt was in 1953—when that person was 10—that would be the latest possible date for the crown on the medal. With your information it is quite obvious that he didn't earn that medal. Thank you, too.
