I'm between AU-55 and AU-58. I lean more toward 55 due to luster. The weak hair detail is a striking issue on these more so than wear. The eagle wing has just a touch of rub. Still a nice example of a key date!
I guess I am still not good at grading because I was going with MS-61. I think we would need to see it out of the 2x2 to tell if cleaned or not. I have always wanted one but always out of my budget. John1

The luster on the coin is muted maybe from a strong old dip. The coin has the typical soft strike on hair and eagle's wing from the pressure being turned down on the press. The fields on the coin are not showing any signs of circulation. The flatness on the eagle's wing is strike not wear, and the high point the tip of the wing does not appear to have wear. The center of the neck does not appear to show any circulation rub, and the neck ridge is not showing wear. From the photos, I am at MS62. If there is circulation rub on the cheek and neck the grade needs to drop down to AU58.
On this coin a fair grade for both buyer and seller may be AU58.
