It is zinc rot or just some crud.

should I clean it its def not zinc rot that was the first thing I though. Is warm water and hand soap ok?

Try some acetone. There's no "S" there in any event.

As a general rule: never clean coins. If you do not have 100% pure acetone you could use soap and a soft toothbrush on this coin since it has no added value.

The 'S' mintmark was used on proof coins, not business strike coins. Yours is from Denver. (Business strike coin)
