Are the date differences for the 1866 penny same as those for the 1879 penny? I saw this one a while ago on EBay and couldn't tell if it was a large or small date? A comparison pic would be fab.

An interesting penny which appears to be neither the large nor the small date - an unlisted variety? The large date is listed as approximately 14 denticals wide and the small date approximately 12 denticals wide. In the image you posted the date appears to be approximately 13 denticals wide. I have a poor (space filler) small date variety (pictured) which appears to be 11 denticals wide and a wide variety (also pictured) which is 14 denticals wide. I find both the allcoinvalues (https://www.allcoinvalues.com/index.html) and pennyvarieties (https://headsntails14.wordpress.com) websites are useful references on varieties.
