I have a 1977 d penny that weights 2.79 and is smaller than the regular penny and in the reverse side you can only read United Ste can someone help me with this, is it an error coin?

@boss, first welcome to CCF. Second, when I crop, enlarge, and enhance you pic, it comes out pretty pixelated. I think that I'm seeing a decent amount of circulation wear, which could explain a low weight, but as others have said, nice overall pictures of both sides will help us to know for sure. Thx.

Sometimes people would grind a cent down to try and use as a dime in a slot machine.
That's when you could get something for a dime.
