Hello everyone,

I am pretty comfortable with ASEs. This coin pings right, weights right, measurements are right, I bought it from a coin shop.

The only concern I have is this coin shop has about 10-12 2021 p type one ASEs... Given that I read the mintage is 495,000 on the Philadelphia issue I thought this was strange.

Any thoughts?

The 2021 type 1 bullion silver eagles were produced at West Point ( no mint mark) over 11 million. Additionally there were emergency production runs at Philadelphia ( no mint mark) 495,000, and at San Francisco ( no mint mark) 1 million. Unless your coin came from a sealed monster box and slabbed as such by a TPG, there is no way to prove the provenance of it being a P mint coin. Your coin is most likely from the over 11 million run from West Point.

Thanks Mr. T. That makes a lot more sense and makes me feel better.

@dearborn... Yeah
.. the emergency issue thing threw me off. I also get wary when I see too many of the same date coins appear in Rome.

ASEs sell for about €28 regardless of date or condition. So I get '86s and '21s at €28... And everything in between.

The 94-96 and the 86 have a premium in the US with the 94-96 being around $40-$45 each. Buy them in Roma and sell them in the us :)
