Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6398 Posts	Posted 04/30/2009 10:57 pm The scuffs on George's cheek and jaw are enough to drop it to MS-63 maximum, IMO. Too bad, since the reverse looks MS-65 plus. The mintmarked quarters from 1934-1939 are I think relative bargains in lower MS grades. They are overshadowed by the 1932 issues and seem to be underrated. I became interested in coins in about 1964 (age 8) and silver coins were still circulating. I regularly checked my parents' change and found many Philadelphia quarters from the '30s and even a few worn Standing Liberty coins, but I never found a single mintmarked Washington from that decade. That's probably why they still seem kind of special to me. Nice coin! Report this Post to the Staff

The photo is way more detailed than looking into a 10x mag. I've spent alot of time recently, really looking into proper grading (if there is such a thing), and if you ask me, that coin is at least 64 Report this Post to the Staff

Just got done searching and watching a handful of lower graded ones tonight to put in a 5 coin whitman holder with 4 other denominations of 1939 D coins. Report this Post to the Staff
