I purchased this 1882-1883 Korean 3 Chon recently and it was listed as an "old counterfeit" but I am not totally convinced that this item is actually a counterfeit and I think that it may be just a poorly cast original example. Anyone have any thoughts? Please let me know. Thanks.
I don't know much about these, but what is the weight? Should be around 10.6 grams according to Numista: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces21038.html Obverse center circle looks a little off, compared to Numista images, but I suppose that could be from wear?
Perhaps others with knowledge of these coins and counterfeits will be able to provide better information.
I cannot comment on the authenticity, but can say that the blue material (adhesive residue?) might be removable with soaking in acetone and judicious picking with a wooden toothpick.
