Hello, I purchased this set of 9 well worn dateless FEC's for relatively cheap on the assumption this was the 401a for the 1857 and albeit war torn it is a place filler I need. But the tail touching A is not on any die pairings I can find for the 1857. I'm 99% sure its a 57 although I'm not all too sure its not just some random obscure 58 obverse. Really cheap purchase so not a real issue but if anyone can help with this one that would be helpful. Unfortunately until the 20th this is the only picture I have but I can tell its LL type, O is that of the 56, E although worn looks connected at both with a small notch on leg extending to arm, E in united is again worn but shows the connection line. Etc. So I'm assuming its the 401 the only issue I can see is the A touching the tail.

I'm sure you can see things much better in hand - the pictures are very hard to see what you are describing.
