If the 90% silver dollars I listed in the For Sale forum doesn't sell by Tuesday morning I plan on shipping them to Specialty Metals located in Fairfield Connecticut

They seem legit but if anyone has had a bad experience with that company please post below

@boba, in a quick search of CCF, I'm only seeing one thread with a mention of Specialty Metals: https://goccf.com/t/450523

Sorry, don't know about them. You could compare buy back prices from better known dealers like JM Bullion, Ampex, SD Bullion, etc and coin stores in your area if you have one.

Several months ago wholesalers were over loaded with 90% and either weren't buying any at all or were offering way below spot. I don't know if this is still true currently.

The big 3 only offered $40 or less per coin.

I assume that is becuse they have to sell them to a refiner

So I just cut out the middle man and went straight to the refiner

I shipped them Express mail this mornign so I should know somthing by the end of the week

I received my check today, it was a little less than expected but more than I would have got selling them locally

At the time I shipped them, I could have got $38 per dollar, or traded 2 commemorative dollars for 1 silver eagle

If I divide my payment by 60 (the number of dollars I sent them) Specialty Metals basically paid me $42 per dollar

This took longer than expected because they actually refined my silver and based my payment on the recovered silver

Out of 52 Gross ounces they recovered 46.8 ounce of silver

All in all, not a bad transaction

That means they melted the coins, so now there is $60 less in 90% silver "out there".

So the 90% silver dollars really were 90% (52-5.2=46.8). Exactly what you would expect.
