thank you very much all
its a big piece 66mm and ex Bruun so neat provenance aswell. But the big slab I dont like feels like a ipad
She was an interesting person. She abdicated the Swedish crown 1654 and converted. Went on to live a playboy life in Rome with a court of followers
She actually was a big collector of coins and medals

Yes I also love the sun-image beatiful, its there to tell us about her divine authority and that her actions stands above us :) italy had very talented medalartists
alot of ot

she also made a medal with matchless written in greek, a wordplay in swedish as it also can mean without husband but also amazing, so it made a great conversationpiece and she could state that she was independent and didnt need a man.
Phoenix rising, not my medal sadly

Part of the REGINA CHRISTINA series. The originals were cast bronze by Massimiliano Soldani Benzi, But struck ones are contemporary.

Struck in Rome. The difficulty with dating them is that the Hamerani kept the dies had held the right to strike bronze medals for sale. Hard to tell originals apart from restrikes.
It is not as bad as with the medals from Paris. Those were restruck with original dies in whatever metal a buyer asked for. The papal mint restricted restrikes to bronze versions. Silver and gold roman medals form the pala mint must be from the original date.

The design is beautiful. That kind of sun representation was very popular starting in the second half of the sixteen-hundreds.
Not very humble. That sun was Christina trying to outshine Louis.

I would release it from the plastic.

Thank you very interesting information, there are many medals of Christina, she loved to have them made.
yes I was trying to be a little bit ironic about her bragging :)

i would love to set her free, but then the Bruun provenence might be lost
