Hello DB dollar experts,

I have just bought this 1798 DB large eagle dollar as part of a lot. I know nothing about early dollars, but it appears genuine.

What I always do if I happen to get an early US coin and want to help identify it is to check out the variety on PCGS and NGC, but I cannot find this particular die marriage. The closest thing to what I have found is the PCGS Photograde G06 example (which happens to be a 1798, and matches mine closely) but I cannot find that in the list of varieties either.

Any info or insights would be appreciated.

The date looks mushy. I'm going to say it's fake.

That date looks awfully "funny" compared to the rest of the coin. I think it has repaired damage or is an outright counterfeit.

Definitely not real. It's a counterfeit. Just compare it to a real one on NGC. I hope you didn't pay much for it. https://www.ngccoin.com/coin-explor...-eagle-1-ms/
