Thought I'd share this to see if anyone has seem PMD of this type on these before. I understand that clipping of silver coins is not something new but I don't recall it being a thing at the time these were circulating.
To me it looks as though someone had been at it with something in the machine shop. That's silver, if you hit it with a bullet in such a way as to take a chunk out of it, it would be stretched and deformed. Those neat bites imply it was held somehow.
