Last one for today.
This was found in a bag of 5000
Lincoln Cent I picked up from a guy who purchased it about 15 years ago from a Colorado bullion dealer. The bag had an unusual number of 1940S cents in it. (+-20-25%) All coins were San Francisco mint.
This coin was the first one I plucked out of the bag. It is MS red, which is what got my attention. I saw the weak motto and rim on the obverse first and looked to the reverse to confirm my suspicion about the tapered planchet. That's when I noticed the Class 6 thickness on the motto, dots, both wheats & stems, and the bottom of E&C of AMERICA.
(I had promised this one back in August and just finding the time to share it now.)
Mine seems to be an earlier die state than the ones listed on CC or VV judging by the tops of the letters of EPU. This may explain the lack of markers but the MM seems to line up.
