1829 Capped Bust 50c Attribution - Coin Community Forum

kcevans222 New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 03/21/2010 2:37 pm I am new to this site, so please bear with me. I have a 1829 capped bust 50c coin, (Fine) My opinion. My question is about the reverse Die. There appears to be a scratch on the bottom going over the 50 c that clips the top of the 0 and through the middle of the c with the top of c missing, also it seams that the c in AMERICA is very weak almost gone. Can someone take a look at the coin for me and give me a correct attribution as to the state of the coin and if any die information. Respectively ~Ron Evans Report this Post to the Staff

I believe that this is O-105 rated as R.1 I would grade it at F-12, with some areas of a weak strike espically in the area of the 50 C. The line running through the C appears to be a scratch and not a die crack. Report this Post to the Staff

echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 03/21/2010 4:08 pm Bust Half Dollars have die variations within each year of issue. This variations were annotated in a book by Al Overaton and given numbers. Hence the O-105 indicates that this is die variation #105. The R.1 indicates its rarity with R.1 being common and R.8 being extremely rare. Report this Post to the Staff
