I purchased this for $3 just because it looked odd and was from Germany, or so I believed.
The text reads: Munchner Oktoberfest
No clues online at all.

I am not familiar with these medals but the information contained on the medal says it is from the Munich October festival of 1976.

Perhaps it is a prize for that year's best brew.

Yeah I can't find a thing on it.
There is a church there as well though.

The Okotoberfest is a world-famous festival in Munich, Bavaria, at which beer-drinking is the primary activity. The festival is imitated by beer fans throughout the world. I would assume the medal is simply one sold as a souvenir to visitors.

Blue and white are the colours of the Bavarian flag and coat of arms, and the arms on the back are the old royal-styled arms. So your medal is almost certainly from the "real" Oktoberfest and not one of the foreign imitations.

Thanks for providing what you know. The guy I bought them from had other german stuff so it more than likely is genuine.
