I found my first 2010 5 cent coin today.

Does anyone have any idea how coins are released?
Do they come out a few at a time, or all at once?

the distribution of coins is quite a mystery to collectors.
I haven't seen a 2010 0.05 yet: well done !

Thanks Peter,
I guess the next question is:
Does anyone have any idea how many they will make?
I suppose I will hold onto it, but I am guessing it will be very common soon.

Going through rolls last nite, keeping only the finest. Maybe a roll of '10 from 60.00. Knew they would show-up sooner or later.

Hi Fioti,
You have listed that you are in America, so I am guessing that you were not looking through Australian coins :)

Thanks Floridapalms,
I have looked through close to 3000 coins recently and that was the first one I found. Its possible that I overlooked other ones as once I had nice examples for the newer years, I was concentrating on trying to find the older ones, or only really nice newer ones.

I am holding all 5c coins I get now.

Update: Just found my second one.
Now they are only 4 times less common than the 1972 - at least in the coins I have gone through.

I found three last night. Unfortunately they'd been sitting in water for a while and have some toning.

Well Done... I've only found one 2010 5c out of a few thousand coins from rolls. And found 7 1972 5c in those rolls. Does anyone know in Australia where to get the plastic coin bags (Armaguard I think) of coins? Like which bank? I've only been able to get paper Chubb rolls from St George and Commonwealth.

I think Westpac tends to give plastic bags.

BrettandKaren,
I have been getting 5 cents from a Commonwealth bank branch and a few from St George. The SG coins came in little armaguard bags, and the C coins came in Chubb rolls. SG has a counting machine which I have used to deposit the unwanted coins and I figured they would go off to armaguard if the bank didnt make use of them - so I would not get the same ones back later. I have been given $100 of coins twice. One time in Chubb rolls and one time in a bag filled by the bank. I guess the supplier of coins depends on the branch?
