I think I understand correctly, that a die clash is when the 2 parts that stamp the coin strike without a blank planchett in between them - thus creating an imprint on the actual die.
In looking at some of the pictures of a TY1 (pictures in this book are courtesy of Mike Diamond) there are die clashes that do not appear to be a part of anything, (numbers, lettering, other than a raised area between the A & M and seems to be some above the E.P.U. and that area).
What identification number would one use to catalog this?
I know the scan isn't that great with low resolution...
