It is a rolled coin. There are many subjects that a rolled coin can celebrate. Google rolled coins.

thanks John. all I get is coins in a roll, rather than a rolled coin when I search. is that Abe Lincoln on the back too?

You'll find machines that roll cents into elongated coins like these at many national parks and other sites; I've seen them at the Gettysburg and Antietam battles visitors' centers. Value? Probably the $1.00 or so that you drop into the machine, plus the cent. Quite a few people collect them.
