Was just going through a very old stash that I wanted to sort out. This one was covered in gunk, and for the most part, illegible. So I decided to give it a bath in acetone to see if there was a hidden treasure...lo and behold! Double "39" and leaf.

I'm no Canadian coin expert, but is this MD rather than DD? Note the second 9 - the device is reduced compared to the first 9. It also looks like the doubling is shelf-like common to MD.

BUT - wait on an expert opinion. It is pretty cool to find things amongst your stash!

It's really nice to find something after going through old stashes of coins.... and it cleans up the office space. I usually like to go through everything twice..my eyes are getting old.. I tend to miss things.

Nice find, Steve! I love the doublings and other errors/varietities/error varieties that can be found on the KGVI series. Is this one eBay-bound or are you going to keep it?

Machine Doubling. 1939 is an easier year to find this, unless you are hunting for a mint state grade....

Hi, Pennysaver: I enjoy searching for errors/varieties, but once I have found them, I put them up for auction. I doubt it would go higher than a couple bucks, if that, but who knows.

*Are the three of you triplets?

For some reason, I like the '39 cents. Pretty cool, even though it's Machine Doubling.
