Opinion On Error Coins - Coin Community Forum

I want to post a few for opinions on whether I should send them out to be slabbed if I have real errors. #1 - Believed to be 1999 Nickel on quarter planchet? CGCoins Pillar of the Community United States 797 Posts	Posted 03/30/2015 1:02 pm I'm no expert, but the nickle looks like a leather job. I dont see any copper core, so that should rule out it being a quarter planchet, plus its smaller in diameter. Report this Post to the Staff

If it were squeezed between leather, the setup rim would be flattened as well as the devices a bit. But better images might tell me more. biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 03/30/2015 1:40 pm The nickel was struck on a normal planchet but it was struck without the collar in place(broadstruck), hence the larger than normal diameter. Report this Post to the Staff
