NewCollector210 New Member United States 27 Posts	Posted 06/25/2015 10:42 pm Got this coin from a guy in the UK who metal detects and sells everything he found in the day for a flat fee. (Got a lot of really cool things) Can make out a faint 1746 on the bottom of one side and a few letters around the other when I hold it in the light. Should I clean it? What do you think it is? aiglet7 Pillar of the Community Canada 695 Posts	Posted 06/26/2015 12:21 am You don't mention the diameter or weight of your coin which would be of assistance in trying to identify it. On the reverse and above the date there appears to be a very faint image of Britannia. As the coin was found in the UK it could possibly be a low value copper coin (a farthing, perhaps) of George II. This a complete guess on my part for, as you are aware, your coin is not in the best of conditions. X2an Pillar of the Community Sweden 1078 Posts	Posted 06/26/2015 1:31 pm Juding by the condition (and the fact I can't make out anything, sadly), I'd clean it to make out more details. By cleaning I mean primarily "allowed" methods such as acetone, acids or other non-damaging chemical treatments. Report this Post to the Staff
