If it looks in hand as it does in the last pic. I say nice struck through error. 
The first two pics were misleading. Wonder if its a magnetic piece of iron still embedded or nickel scrap? Try to keep together what ever it is. Thanks, Doug.
Meant to add this is not a variety nor PSD (post strike damage) but unless I miss my mark its a rock solid mint error.
