Maximum for a NEW cent from that period would have been 3.24 grams. This coin weighs 3.26 grams even after all the wear it has received. So yes it is an error, but it is so slightly out of tolerance (.02 grams) it has no real premium value to it. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 05/04/2017 3:40 pm If the coin is worn down to the point where you don't see the rims, what will that do to the weight? It will reduce it as the coin wears away, the weight also reduces. If you are rolling worn wheat cents with a stack tube, keep in mind that the rims missing will take more that 50 to make a roll when you roll them up. Proof cents in a plastic tube will only hold about 48 instead to 51 that most tubes hold. Report this Post to the Staff
