1937-S Lincoln Cent - DDO-002 (2-O-Vi)

It's hard to tell because it is so worn. However, the doubling looks right, the mintmark location is right, and the die crack is right. So, I think you have DDO-002.

Here is a fresher die for this die on coppercoins. 1937S-1DO-002



Mine has the die gouge, but I don't have an image of it.
Variety Vista (CONECA) 1937-S DDO-004 is the same die with the die chip as the 002 of coppercoins.

Here are some pics of my example.
I'm thinking your coin is nit 002 because even with die wear and circulation damage there should still be a hook at the bottom of the I of Liberty.

Just looked again and the mintmark of the original coin is too far south to be 002

IIRC, the coppercoins numbering for this date doesn't match the Variety Vista numbering. I think VV DDO-002 = cc 1-DO-004 and VV DD-004 = cc 1-DO-002. I (think) I matched the target coin to the Variety Vista listing.

The left wheat stalk die crack is what sold me on the DDO-002 (VV numbering).

Am I right on this? or am I confuzzled?

It's times like this I wish we had one standard numbering scheme, but that won't happen.
