1879 O Morgan Dollar Gold Tone Color

Every 1879 ) Morgan dollar coin I have seen shows that it should be a silver color. Could the material be made of something else? Jadey Pillar of the Community United States 900 Posts	Posted 04/26/2019 1:07 pm It looks like a normal toned coin to me. Exposed to the environment, coins will develop a toning. Here is a link to an article about toned Morgans. From that article: Quote: Jhon E. Cash You know, color is an obvious way to tell if a Morgan dollar is NT. That goes without saying. The typical color progression for bag toned Morgan dollars is: Peach/Orange --> Powder Blue --> Bright Yellow --> Magenta --> Royal Blue --> Emerald Green --> Burgundy (darker magenta) --> Deep Teal --> Plum --> Charcoal. Doug Kurz has also developed a color chart denoting the color progression of a silver-sulfide thin film interference. This chart is more advanced than my above color progression gradient and will help you determine if those really WILD Morgans that may be suspect to you might in-fact be AT.
