Penny feel light and weighs 2.829 grams . I Re-calibrated my scale three time to make sure. What do you think?

Tapered planchet? Given the wear, not that far off normal.

Don't forget about the mint tolerance of +/- .13 grams for copper cents and .10 for copper plated cents.

I don't think tapered planchet, I just think rolled thin. But the weight isn't far enough off to be of significant value.

as everyone else has said, it is probably a thin planchet. The only other thing I can think of was it being a 1944 steel penny, but it looks copper. It also could be a fake coin, but unlikely, because wheat pennies are not worth enough to counterfeit.
