1996-D Lincoln Cent, New Doubled Die Reverse / DDR Or Just A Blister?

Meraxes Valued Member United States 62 Posts	Posted 03/20/2020 3:15 pm Hello everyone, I am trying to decide if this Lincoln Cent has a tilted, doubled partial column, which is not unheard of during this era of Memorial cents, or if this is just a linear plating blister (or something else entirely). I checked CONECA, Wexler, and coppercoins with no luck. Here's are full views of the obverse and reverse. Thanks for taking a look! Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/20/2020 4:56 pm There are other areas on the reverse that looks a bit odd. Note below the left base, an area SW of the left base tip. Also on the right side there is an area with a line NE from the side steps. But if a test would be made on the area near the statue to see if the plating is raised there, that might be helpful first to know. A toothpick could be used to press down on these areas I mentioned. If they are a gas bubble, they should give. If they are die gouges, then they will not give. If they are die scratches they won't give. Are they connected, I doubt it. But always nice to know the little facts to know where to go for sure first. More input. Report this Post to the Staff
