Does PCGS Gold Shield Increase Value Of Coin?

Jake57 New Member United States 15 Posts	Posted 05/12/2023 09:31 am Never sold a coin before but am considering selling some wheat pennies at upcoming coin show I am wondering if having the PCGS gold shield would warrant selling at a higher price. If yes, would it be worth it to have the coin reholdered by PCSG with a gold shield. PCGS Coins I have without a gold shield are 1909 S VDB rated VF35 (2 coins) and VF 45 (1 coin) 1911 S rate AU58 1914 D rate F15, VF 25 and XF 40 (1 each) 1922 NO D strong reverse rated VF25 1931 S rated AU 53 Report this Post to the Staff

southsav Pillar of the Community 2225 Posts	Posted 05/12/2023 10:20 am to CCF I'm not necessarily a cent collector as I collect/buy what appeals to my eye. My collection is diverse. Gold shield means nothing to me. I buy the coin, not the holder. IMHO Report this Post to the Staff

The only benefit that interests me is supposedly if a stolen coin gets resubmitted, they might identify it and thus lead to a "more likely" recovery. Maybe, but I have never seen anyone post that their lost or stolen coins got recovered because of gold shield. As a buyer I wouldn't pay extra for a coin that has it. Report this Post to the Staff
