Never sold a coin before but am considering selling some wheat pennies at upcoming coin show I am wondering if having the PCGS gold shield would warrant selling at a higher price. If yes, would it be worth it to have the coin reholdered by PCSG with a gold shield.
PCGS Coins I have without a gold shield are
1909 S VDB rated VF35 (2 coins) and VF 45 (1 coin)
I believe the "Gold Sheild" just means they take a photo of the coin. I also think, now a days, all non US coins have to be "Gold Sheild" I could be wrong.
I had to look it up. The only benefit that interests me is supposedly if a stolen coin gets resubmitted, they *might* identify it and thus lead to a "more likely" recovery. Maybe, but I have never seen anyone post that their lost or stolen coins got recovered because of gold shield. As a buyer I wouldn't pay extra for a coin that has it.
