OK, I know there are some people who absolutely detest these things
But I thought it was sort of neat getting it.
Not to mention the 30 cents extra value!

I have seen auctions where such gold-damaged coins pull in crazy numbers. For example, check out what so-called "racketeer" nickels sell for.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

A good decoy if I ever get mugged! Show it to the mugger, then drop it. Surely they'll go after it

I like it.

I almost bought one at a flea market when I was 11 years old. Wish I had.

I wouldn't go out of my way for one.
On the other hand, I'd probably keep it, along with lots of other oddballs I've run across over the years.
I've even kept a Lincoln Cent placed in a 2x2 that I found with a little advertising sticker a half century ago. Just because (it was only a Cent).
The place being advertised long ago went out of business.
Dang, maybe if I'd of spent that the place would've gotten enough business to not go belly up.

Sentimental value, if you liked the place.

interesting toning on this item.

OOPS, you made me realize that I was vague: it's a third party, gold plated dollar.

Honestly, I'd never patronized that business. But it does go back to a time when the little beach town it was in, and that I have fond memories of, hadn't yet been replaced by nightclubs and high rise condos.
