American Numismatic Society - Jeff Pritchard (ANS Member and numismatist) will examine the often-overlooked work of French medalist Jules Chaplain. Chaplain helped usher in the Art Nouveau movement during the late 19th century, as well as the resurgence in medal collecting throughout Europe. Once considered the greatest medallic artist of his time, collector and historical familiarity with his work have regrettably faded over the intervening years. An in-depth look at this prolific artist's work.
