I got these two Morgan dollars from Littleton Coin the other day. I think I'm paying too much for them and I have a couple of questions regarding condition. #1 What is the grade of this coin? Littleton says it's About Uncirculated. I paid $206 for this coin and am wondering why it cost so much. Could it be because it was minted in 1880?   #2 The grade by Littleton is about uncirculated for this one too. The minting date is 1889 and it cost me $176. There is a mark on the obverse that appears to be from a sharpie, what would you do to remove the mark?   |

Littleton is horrendously overpriced. You can get a certified ms65 1880 for less than that. You can do much better elsewhere.

You are paying a significant premium over fair market value for these coins. Littleton has always had a reputation for seriously overcharging for their material. I suggest you check in with a reputable price guide before you commit to any additional Littleton coins - that way you can see for yourself what the coins should cost. A quick and free check at Numismedia FMV (Fair Market Value, i.e. Retail Price) would have shown you that an 1880 Morgan in MS64 is retail priced at $144. Please stay away from Littleton Coins (when it comes to buying coins anyway)
If you have questions about a coin purchase, you can always come her first for advice before buying.

Sorry but you got really taken on this deal. I can't think of any scenario where ordering from a Littleton is a good idea. Their stuff is super overpriced. For those prices you like could have got original uncleaned coins in a pcgs or ngc slab. I'd recommend returning those if possible!

I agree with the above. Here is a 1880 Morgan graded by PCGS MS64 for sale on ebay for $155.00.  Edited by Slider23

I agree with above. Littleton always overcharges for their coins they sell. Hopefully you can get your money back.

Unfortunately, common dates worth slightly more than spot silver. Please do some research on sold coins on different sites for current worth, this breaks my heart.

Your best bet is to find a local coin show to attend. You'll find much better ( and I mean much better) prices at a local show than your paying for these.
